Cleen Ready-to-Use Enema - Summary of Product.
Uses. Sodium phosphates have many applications in food and for water treatment. For example, sodium phosphates are often used as emulsifiers (such as in processed cheese), thickening agents, and leavening agents for baked goods. They are also used to control pH of processed foods. They are also used in medicine for constipation and to prepare the bowel for medical procedures.
Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is a pH-sensitive sodium-dependent phosphate transporter. Phosphate uptake is increased at lower pH. Defects in this gene are a cause of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. (provided by RefSeq, May 2010).
Hyperosmotic laxatives (e.g., glycerin; sodium phosphates) draw water into the bowel from surrounding body tissues. This provides a soft stool mass and increased bowel action. Lubricant. Mineral oil coats the bowel and the stool mass with a waterproof film. This keeps moisture in the stool. The stool remains soft and its passage is made easier.
Phosphate and sodium citrate (Microlette) are the most common types. Possible risks associated with phosphate enemas have been raised (Davies, 2004) so an assessment of need is vital. A recent systematic review of the adverse effects of phosphate enemas (Mendoza, 2007) found an absence of conclusive evidence.
A casual association with methylprednisolone sodium succinate treatment has not been established. This medicinal product contains 0.3 mmol (6.2 mg) of sodium per vial of 100mg hydrocortisone. This means that sodium content has to be taken into consideration by patients on a controlled sodium diet for dose above 370 mg of hydrocortisone.
Betamethasone Sodium Phosphate is the disodium salt of the 21-phosphate ester of betamethasone, a synthetic glucocorticoid with metabolic, immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory actions.Betamethasone sodium phosphate binds to specific intracellular glucocorticoid receptors and subsequently binds to DNA to modify gene expression.
Using a phosphate enema - preparing for your flexible sigmoidoscopy You have been given an appointment to have a flexible sigmoidoscopy. This is an examination of your bowel, where a flexible tube with a camera at the end is passed through your back passage (rectum) and up inside your bowel by a specially trained doctor or nurse.
