It'll probably be a dissertation so you'll need like 25-30 pieces of research. If you did what tgwktm said, or something similar, then you'd do only like 15-20 pieces of research, and then questionnaires and things (primary research). It depends what your school provides, and also what you'd find easier. A flooding topic would be good like you mentioned. There will probably be much more info.
